Selmer Haus or Duneden House of Port Dover. The house was build to be a home for Walker and Catharine Powell in 1853. In the past it developed in just about everything involving the tourist industry. Now, it is a home again but still open to the public as an accommodation business.
But fist of all it is the home of the Koch's Family. The Koch's Family Miss April & Annabel Koch Cairns
Fred and Lena Koch with their twin daughters emigrated from Germany in 1970 to this area. Norfolk County became their new home. Although they travelled a lot to see what else North America had to offer, they always returned to Lake Erie. The children have left to live their own life; however, Fred and Lena decided to move closer to their beloved lake. A short decision was made in 1999 to sell the property in the country, which was their home for many years and to purchased the Duneden House then known as Dover Lodge in Port Dover. Selmer Haus was established in 2000 (history) and developed in to a precious loving home, with many friendly, delightful, charming, unique, interesting and famous visitors. (our guests) (guest's comment) A beautiful stained glass in the upstairs hallway facing the road, which was designed by Lena and fabricated by a delightful couple from Virginia, is an invitation to a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Many guests return to enjoy Fred's and Lena's sense of good humor and warm hospitality.
Over the last few years our small family has increased with a third generation.
Port Dover, the mysterious beauty of the South Coast of Canada.
